About Emily

My name is Emily Dawson, but most people just call me Em. I’m 32 years old and grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, where the kitchen was always the heart of our home. Some of my earliest memories are of standing on a wooden stool, helping my mom stir gumbo or sneaking tastes of biscuit dough before it hit the oven. Food was never just food in our house—it was love, laughter, and connection.

As I got older, I realized that cooking was my way of storytelling. I love following a recipe the first time just to understand its rhythm, and then little by little, I start to make it my own—adding a splash of something unexpected, swapping in a seasonal ingredient, or trying out a twist that makes friends and family smile. Not everything works out (ask me about the time I tried to make macarons and ended up with something closer to pancakes), but that’s half the fun.

I’ve worked behind the scenes in a few local restaurants, helped friends cater weddings, and even taught cooking classes for kids—but my real joy is right here, sharing recipes with people who love them as much as I do. I think recipes are like little adventures, invitations to travel through flavors without ever leaving your kitchen.

If you’re the kind of person who gets excited to try something new, swap cooking tips, or just unwind by stirring a pot of something cozy on the stove, then we’re already on the same page. I believe the best meals aren’t just about taste—they’re about the moments and memories they create.

So come cook with me, experiment a little, laugh at the flops, and celebrate the wins. Because at the end of the day, every recipe we try together brings us closer to another delicious story worth sharing.
