  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream (plus more for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing (optional))

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Pour in heavy cream and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat into a 3/4-inch thick rectangle.
  • Use a 2-inch biscuit cutter or a knife to cut out biscuits. Do not twist the cutter.
  • Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Brush tops of biscuits with heavy cream or melted butter (optional).
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flaky biscuits, use cold heavy cream and handle the dough as little as possible.
