  • 1 Shortcakes or Angel Food Cake (as needed)
  • 2 lbs strawberries (fresh)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 Whipped topping (as needed)

Instructions 

  • Gather your tools: knife, cutting board, bowl, and spoon.
  • Wash and drain strawberries.
  • Cut strawberries and add to bowl.
  • Pour sugar over strawberries and stir.
  • Refrigerate, stirring every 30 minutes.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Spoon strawberries and syrup over shortcake.
  • Add whipped topping and enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, macerate the strawberries with a splash of balsamic vinegar.
