Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cream butter and sugar, add egg and extracts. Mix dry ingredients, combine with wet, fold in candy canes.
  • Divide dough, roll into ropes, twist into candy cane shapes, place on baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool and dust with powdered sugar.
