This Brown Sugar Glazed Tofu is a delicious and easy vegan dish perfect for a cozy holiday dinner. The crispy tofu is coated in a sweet and savory glaze that will leave you wanting more.

  • 1 block (14-16 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker glaze)
  • sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions 

  • Press the tofu to remove excess water.
  • Cut the pressed tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices or cubes.
  • Cook the tofu in olive oil until golden brown and crispy.
  • Whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and garlic powder (and cornstarch, if using).
  • Pour the glaze over the cooked tofu and cook until thickened.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve hot.

Notes

For extra crispy tofu, make sure to press it for at least 30 minutes!
