1 block (14-16 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thicker glaze)
sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Press the tofu to remove excess water.
Cut the pressed tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices or cubes.
Cook the tofu in olive oil until golden brown and crispy.
Whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ground ginger, and garlic powder (and cornstarch, if using).
Pour the glaze over the cooked tofu and cook until thickened.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve hot.
