Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
8 slices rye bread
4 slices swiss cheese
4 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
Mix ground beef, salt, and pepper; form into 4 patties.
Caramelize sliced onions in butter; set aside.
Cook patties in the same skillet until cooked through.
Butter one side of each bread slice.
Assemble patty melts: bread (butter-side down), cheese, patty, onions, cheese, bread (butter-side up).
Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the ground beef mixture.
