These easy homemade biscuits are fluffy, tender, and perfect for breakfast or as a side dish. Made with simple ingredients, they're ready in under 30 minutes!

4cupsall-purpose flour((500g))
2Tablespoonsbaking powder
2Tablespoonsgranulated sugar
2teaspoonssalt
12Tablespoonsunsalted butter(very cold (unsalted European butter is ideal, but not required))
1.5cupswhole milk((354ml) – buttermilk or 2% milk will also work)
Instructions
Chill butter in the freezer for 10-20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 425F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl and mix well.
Cut butter into flour mixture using a pastry cutter or shred with a box grater. Combine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add milk and stir until combined (don’t over-work the dough).
Transfer dough to a floured surface, fold in half 5-6 times, taking care not to overwork the dough.
Flatten dough to 1″ thick. Cut biscuits with a 2 ¾” cutter and place on baking sheet.
Bake on 425F for 12 minutes or until tops are lightly golden brown.
Brush with melted salted butter (optional). Serve warm.
Notes
For best results, use very cold butter and don't overwork the dough.
