This easy strawberry shortcake sheet cake is perfect for a crowd! A simple white cake topped with fresh strawberries and a tangy cream cheese frosting makes for a delicious and impressive dessert.
Ingredients
Cake
1boxwhite cake mix((15.25 oz))
1cupmilk
1/2cupvegetable oil
3largeeggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Strawberry Topping
1poundfresh strawberries(hulled and sliced)
1/4cupgranulated sugar
Cream Cheese Frosting
8ouncescream cheese(softened)
1/2cupunsalted butter(softened)
4cupspowdered sugar
1teaspoonvanilla extract
2-4tablespoonsmilk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Combine cake mix, milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes.
Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
Combine sliced strawberries and sugar. Let sit for 15 minutes.
Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
Gradually add powdered sugar, then vanilla and milk until desired consistency.
Frost the cooled cake with cream cheese frosting.
Spoon the macerated strawberries and their juices over the frosting.
Slice and serve immediately, or refrigerate for later.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use a butter cake mix instead of white cake mix.
