Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dusting

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugars; add egg, molasses, vanilla.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients; chill dough 30 mins.
  • Shape dough into balls, coat with powdered sugar, and place on sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 mins; cool before serving.
