  • 1 pound smoked beef sausage (sliced)
  • 12 ounces penne or rotini pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 0.5 cup diced onions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add sliced beef sausage and diced onions.
  • Cook until beef sausage is browned and onions are softened, about five to seven minutes.
  • Stir in chicken broth, heavy cream, honey BBQ sauce, uncooked pasta, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  • Simmer, stirring occasionally, until pasta is cooked and the sauce thickens, about ten to twelve minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

Adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference for sweetness and smokiness.
