This one-skillet pasta dish combines smoked sausage, chicken, and a creamy BBQ sauce for a quick and flavorful meal. Perfect for a weeknight dinner!

  • 1 lb smoked beef sausage (sliced)
  • 1 lb cooked chicken (diced)
  • 12 oz rotini or penne pasta (uncooked)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup diced onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)
  • Chopped cilantro or green onions (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add sliced sausage and diced onions to the pan.
  • Sauté for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is browned and onions are softened.
  • Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, BBQ sauce, and uncooked pasta.
  • Stir well and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12-15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Once pasta is tender, remove lid and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Mix well until the sauce thickens.
  • Taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed.
  • Remove from heat and let rest for a minute to thicken slightly.
  • Garnish with cilantro or green onions.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
