Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Coating

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix dry ingredients and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar, then add egg, food coloring, vanilla, and almond extract.
  • Gradually combine dry ingredients into wet mixture. Chill dough 30 minutes.
  • Form dough into balls, coat in powdered sugar, and place on baking sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes, cool on wire rack.
