  • 1 package frozen sliced strawberries (thawed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 package frozen angel food cake (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish (optional))

Instructions 

  • Combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Let macerate for 15 minutes.
  • Prepare vanilla pudding with milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Let thicken for 5 minutes.
  • Whip cream with powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  • Layer cake cubes in a trifle bowl.
  • Spoon half the strawberries and juice over the cake.
  • Spread half the vanilla pudding over the strawberries.
  • Top with half the whipped cream.
  • Repeat layers: cake, strawberries, pudding, whipped cream.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours.
  • Garnish with mint leaves before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use pound cake instead of angel food cake.
