  • 2 cups self-rising flour (plus more for kneading the dough)
  • 6 tbsp salted butter (cold and diced)
  • 0.75 cup buttermilk (cold)
  • 2 tbsp salted butter (separated into two separate tbsp pieces)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Cut cold, diced butter into flour until pea-sized lumps remain.
  • Add buttermilk to flour-butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead dough on a floured surface until it comes together. Pat to 3/4-inch thickness.
  • Cut 10 biscuits. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
  • Brush with 1 tbsp melted butter. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown. Brush with remaining 1 tbsp melted butter.
